It was a beautiful day for my SWELL book club to explore around Union Valley Reservoir and Ice House. After a quick stop at Bridalveil Falls we turned off on Ice House road and made our way up to the Reservoir. Ree was scouting out mega camp sites for the RV and I was looking for some nice tent spots with easy water access for kayaking.
Union Valley water was real low, but we managed to find a nice spot for a picnic by the water.
We checked out all the campgrounds and made our notes. On the way out we saw a sign that said, Big Hill. Then we saw one that said "Heliport" So off we went, climbing to the top of the mountain for some of the best views you can imagine. The heliport was no longer in use according to the ranger there, but the look out tower was manned 24 x 7 during the summer.
We then checked out Ice House where the water looked real high. The campgrounds looked nice there as well. I am thinking of planning a paddle there where it is still so green and lush.
Another beautiful day with good friends, fine food and nature all around.
Happily Paddling On...
