Cross Country Sept 19 2021- Sept 23

Heading east, so much more to see.

Campgrounds

Left Tailrace, SD
COE campground on the Missouri River. But there is a damn here and boats can’t go through. Ranger told us they portaged a family canoeing down the River following the Lewis and Clark trail. Nice big wide open spaces. Stopped at the Dignity Statue on the way out.

Blackhawk SP, Iowa
Beautiful lake side CG. Only stayed 1 night

Blanding Landing, Hanover ILL.
Small CG on the Mississippi. We got ther opening season for duck hunting, woke to lots of gun fire, very disturbing. And there was a train running all night right next to CG. Only 1 night.

Potato Creek,  N Liberty, Indiana

East Harbor SP, Marblehead OH

Four Mile Creek, Youngstown, NY 3 nights,
On Lake Ontario. We could see Canada across the water. Nice for walking and biking, near Niagara Falls

Cayuga Lake SP Fayetteville, NY

Shaftesbury Alpaca Farm - Harvest Host
The alpacas were adorable and the host was a very nice lady. But she put us in this big grass field where I dug some big ruts and almost got stuck.

Moosebrook SP, Gorham NH

Acadia NP Maine. Blackwoods CG
Beautiful, quiet, heavily wooded CG.  There was no where to bike from here and you needed to drive everywhere else. Except they did have a shuttle for Bar

Niagara Falls

Four Mile Creek SP, NY

Cross county September 5, 2021

Wow! This country is amazingly beautiful. Everywhere we have been is beautiful. I know that may change as we get further east into more dense population but for right now I am enjoying it all.

Yellowstone never fails to deliver. Geysers, pools, Buffalo, Pronghorn…so much to see.

The Devils Tower! Beautiful trail around the entire thing.

It has been on my bucket list to visit Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse and they did not disappoint. We did the presidents trail on Mt Rushmore.and were able to visit the sculpture fairly close just way down below.

Custer state park is amazing. We kayaked Sylvan Lake and visited an active Mammoth dig site in hot springs

Campgrounds:

Canyon at Yellowstone: Beautiful and rustic. Very difficult for me to get the van level. Some short easy bike rides around the campground and lodge, which was eerily empty. Great laundry area.

Sibley Lake: beautiful forest high in the Rockies. Beautiful little lake popular for fishing.

Keyhole SP: another beauty on a large lake. We had power for the first time in awhile and it was a nice treat. Devils Tower was about 35 mins from here.

Sylvan Lake, Custer SP: another mountain climb near Crazy Horse and MT Rushmore. This Little lake is beautiful. Hoping to Kayak on Monday but it will be Labor Day and it gets crowded there.
