Hello 2014 on the Cosumnes and Moke

While the east side of the country has been getting buried in snow  we have had plenty of sun and beautiful days. But we are running really low on water!  While we wait for the rains we have enjoyed some great paddles and hikes.

Friday 12.27.13 - We hiked about 10 miles at Folsom Lake.  The low water has unearthed some remainders of two old towns, Mormon Island and Salmon Falls, that were flooded when Folsom damn was built.  Very fun and interesting hike looking at some old foundations and old bridges, all usually covered in water.

The Sac Paddle Pushers rang in the new year on the Cosumnes and Mokelumne Rivers. We started with a nice hike, had a tail gate lunch, then headed down to the dock to launch our boats. The day warmed up to about 64 and we had a beautiful paddle.  Starting at the Cosumnes River Preserve visitor center we headed out on the Cosumnes then made a left turn into the Moke.

The club headed down to Lodi and put in at Lodi Lake.  This was another part of the Mokelumne River.  We had never paddled this portion and it is always nice to explore somewhere new.

We will keep paddling, as long as we can find water...
