Paddlers Parade of Lights

December 15, 2012 Lake Natoma, Folsom California

Some hardy paddlers braved the rain and cold to light up the night in Folsom. It was a light drizzle that stopped just in time for us to launch. Out of 40 signed up only 10 showed, but we were a grand site!

Thanks to my pit crew, son and niece, who helped decorate my boat and other stuff as needed.

We awarded grand prize, second and third, all well deserved. It is very special experience to be out on the water with light rain drops and crazy beautiful Christmas lights. Check out the lit up house scene in the pics...she had music playing and the house kept changing colors...you just had to be there.

You are all invited next year!
Paddling on and on and on...

Yosemite in December

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”
― John Muir

Mr. Muir had it so right. Two days in Yosemite was healing for body and soul. We biked, hiked and just took in all the good vibes of nature. We enjoyed brisk cool days with no snow.

The best thing about the park was how empty it was. Oh there was a line to check in and we saw people at the eating spots, but the roads were pretty empty, the shuttles were empty, and it was strange walking around a closed and quiet Curry Village. We saw maybe 10 people on he trails around Mirror Lake.

Lesson learned: Those back country roads that are so enjoyable in the fresh morning sunshine, become treacherous and scary in the late dark of night. I missed one turn off three times finally counting on the gps to tell us 500 ft, 200 ft....recalculating!
