2021 January

I originally planned to head to warm Arizona. But they had the highest rate of COVID cases in the WORLD! So I decided to stay closer to home. I headed north to the redwoods and Avenue of the Giants.

The Redwoods were beautiful and majestic. We had the forest all to ourselves. (Friend Charlotte was traveling with me).

We stayed at Giant Redwoods RV park. Beautiful small park on the Eel river. It was pricey but only place I could find open. Great place to base camp for exploring the redwoods.

Ferndale is a cute little town with Victorian houses and an a unique cemetery that climbed up a hill. The church next to this was playing some ominous music while we were there.. really kind of creepy. The town was pretty dead, winter and COVID combined.

We headed east and camped at Whiskeytown Lake. Strong north winds were blowing but it was fairly warm. Looking at bike rides, hiking and if the wind dies and suns heats up....maybe kayaking. Traveling off season is always nice, very few campers

The RV parking is a large parking lot. Not the best but only $10.00 and close to the water.
