Cross Country August 23, 2021

We spent a beautiful 10 days in the PNW. Oregon and Washington are beautiful states with lush forests. We had put off heading east to avoid smoke but ultimately decided to go for it. After a couple more changes and adjustments to the schedule we ended up staying in Coeur d’alene ID and having to cancel Glacier. Very tough call. So the air was bad when we landed but has been pretty good last couple of days. We have biked and hiked and today we are going to Kayak from our campground along wolf creek down to Lake Coeur d’ Alene. Weather is high 60s.

Campgrounds

Del Norte Coast Mill Valley - CA - BEAUTIFUL heavy wooded…so much green. This is the perfect place to camp

Ocean City SP - WA- Beautiful CG with an easy walk to the beach.

Penrose Point CG -WA -Another WA beauty right on Puget Sound.

Camp Coeur d’alene - ID - right on a marsh area that leads to lake. Very tight crowded camp sites but this looks like a fun place for families and groups. The tent campground on the water looks very nice.

Wolf Lodge - ID - this is more like an RV park. It is nicely set up and well kept with a lot of amenities, like laundry. Downside it is right on the highway so very noisy. We are all enjoying having power as we won’t for several days once we leave here.

We are heading to Yellowstone next and I am looking forward to a more open wooded CG. YS is still my fave, can’t wait to see those Bison!

McKinley RV Park Waldport - OR - Basic RV park next the Alsea River. Nice atmosphere. This is the crabbing place to be and my nice neighbors did share with me.

Cross Country August 10, 2021- It begins

Today is the first official day of my 3 month cross country trip. I am at the Giant Redwoods RV park and it is hot. I spent the morning walking among the redwood tress and then parked for a couple of hours alongside a grove. I sketched, painted, ate lunch, read and chilled.

And then it got hot. So I came back to the Park, plugged in and am enjoying the wonderful AC. I have prepared myself for days like this where it will get hot. But I hope there are not too many.  I will get out early and then spend the afternoon doing other things. It am enjoying this alone time. It has been busy and chaotic at home. Being in the redwoods is so peaceful.

Tomorrow i will join up with some traveling friends. We will enjoy coastal weather for a few days before heading east. We know there will smoke, fires and some hot days. It is all part of the adventure!

Campgrounds

Giant Redwoods RV Park CA

Nice park on the Eel River, but very low water. It is right on the Avenue of the Giants, so great base camp for Redwood hiking.
