Silver Lake is another of our beautiful alpine lakes. It is just south of Lake Tahoe and about 1.5 hours from my house. We had a group of about 16 paddle this Sunday. Some of the group had been camping the weekend and several were from the Bay area and Sonoma. The highlight for me was the beautiful bald eagle watching from high in the tree.
The lake is not large and only took a couple of hours to paddle. The scenery was amazing with snow caped mountains in the background, lush forest and granite rock gardens.
Known for wind whipped afternoons we seemed to beat the odds and the winds. Another great day on the water.
