French Meadows June 2020
This beautiful little reservoir is just a little over two hours from my house, high up in the sierras. The last hour is a road that starts through a desolate area of burned out trees from a fire a couple of years ago. It quickly turns into a narrow, twisty, pot holed challenge. Add to that monster logging trucks coming at you and well...you get the picture. My friend ahead of me on the way back had a bear run across the road in front of her. Oh and I need to go check out the tree parts still stuck in my steps from a downed tree I did not quite miss.
Once you are there it is a beautiful peaceful place. We all had great camp spots and nice views of the water from the forest. It was just the right get away from a world struggling with protests, riots and covid. Those things can fade away for awhile when you are in the mountains or by a lake. Kayaking was good and we explored a pretty cove before it got too windy.
